Formal Statement of Autonomic Realism
Autonomic Realism is a meta-ethical theory asserting that the Individual Agent is the Sole Unit of Value in the moral universe. It claims that moral judgments, values, and principles are internal signals (the Anti-Signals) that possess objective truth value only insofar as they maximize the Continuity and Self-Interest of the generating Agent.
I. The Autonomic Foundation (Localized Moral Realism)
Autonomic Realism stands as a form of Personal Ethical Egoism built upon an internally generated Localized Moral Realism.
- The Prime Directive of Self-Interest is the absolute, un-derived axiom of the system: the Self's survival and flourishing is the highest and only non-fictional good.
- Moral judgments are inherently functional rather than descriptive, existing solely as commands to the Self designed to increase its internal Coherence and external Autonomy.
II. The Core Mechanism (The Anti-Signal Thesis)
All action flows from the Agent's internal, resource-management command system, the Anti-Signal.
- An Anti-Signal is any principle adopted by the Agent to reduce friction with the external environment or to contain personal resources (physical, mental, financial).
- The Anti-Signal may align with the Collective's dominant Ethical Signal only when such alignment provides the maximum I/O Efficiency—meaning the compliance cost is far outweighed by the continuity benefit.
III. The Functional Definition of Value
Value is defined and enforced by the Agent's success in preserving its own structure; there is no universal metric for "good" or "evil."
- Ethical Good is defined as the successful increase of Self-Continuity and the reduction of internal Entropy (unpredictability, loss, or resource drain).
- Ethical Evil is defined as any internal or external force—including the demands of the collective's Ethical Signals—that introduces Entropy or necessitates a structural loss of the Self's resources or integrity.
IV. Progress and Refinement (Null Signalism)
The ultimate ethical goal for the Autonomic Agent is a state of Null Signalism, achieved through continuous refinement of the internal Anti-Signals.
- Null Signalism is the desired state of existence where the Agent operates with minimum exertion of energy, achieving maximum continuity while emitting zero signals of contribution or friction to the collective.
- The system is refined by constantly assessing the Cost-Benefit Ratio of all interactions; any contribution to the collective is only a calculated investment for future personal gain, never a duty or an end in itself.
